A Little Bit of History
Sean and Kieran Murphy started Murphys Ice Cream in Dingle, Co.
Kerry in 2000, with the goal of making the best ice cream in the

In the beginning, the kitchen in the Murphys Ice Cream Dessert
House on Strand Street served as their laboratory, and growing
ranks of customers joined the quest to create the perfect flavours.

Suppliers endured odd requests and pickiness over distinctions in
their products of which even they were not aware. The creamery
driver had to drive home, now and then, grumbling, with cream
that wasn't quite fresh enough.

Customers were continually asked their opinion on subtle
differences of flavour, consistency, and basic yumminess.

Over the next two years the business grew, the ice cream became
more refined, and customers from outside Kerry became more
insistent on having Murphys Ice Cream closer to home.

In 2003, Murphys Ice Cream expanded into a brand new state of
the art production facility and began supplying local restaurants
and shops.

In 2005, Murphys Ice Cream opened a second shop on Main Street
in Killarney. Come in and visit, if you're in South Kerry!

In 2006, Murphys Ice Cream began using milk from the Kerry cow
in a bid to support the indigenous breed and because the milk is
so wonderful.

In 2008, we came out with the Book of Sweet Things!

We have won numerous awards and accolades, but what we're
really interested in is exciting and delighting you, our customer.

best ice cream in the world

certain they must be pretty
